JeanRichard was founded in 1731 by Abraham-Louis Breguet's father-in-law, Isaac Goüin. As a young man working in his father's clock-making workshop in Fleurier (Neuchâtel), Switzerland, Goüin had an innate talent for mechanics and horology.
